Sr. Networking Engineer L2/L3/switches

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with expertise in networking and network management. In particular, we are looking for candidates with a strong background in operating systems network technology, L2/L3 switches, load balancers, and firewalls. The candidate will be a member of the core engineering team and will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the networking infrastructure of the OUR V/OE (Virtualization Operating Environment) product.

Though networking expertise is a prerequisite for this position, not all responsibilities will be networking specific. As a member of the core development team, you will be responsible for the design, specification, and implementation of new functionality and features.

Role & Responsibilities:

Senior member of the core engineering team

Develop and maintain support for network elements (e.g. switches) in the OUR VOE product.

Key contributor of the core development team (design, document, implement new features)

Network Specific Experience:

The candidate must have at least five years in network systems level development in the following areas

Knowledge of host system networking technology – including kernel architectures and modules/drivers that implement specific networking features (802.1Q)

Expertise in managing and monitoring networking equipment via SNMP and other programmatic methods (e.g. ssh)

Knowledge of L2/L3 switches, Load Balancers, and Firewalls

L2/L3 networking protocols

IP Routing

VLANs, VLAN Security, 802.1Q/P, STP

Familiarity with network troubleshooting and debugging tools

General Qualifications:

10 years software development experience

C, C and Java

Linux (necessary)

Knowledge of XML, SSL, SSH is desirable

Knowledge of network programming (TCP/IP, sockets, etc).

Multi threaded programming

Prior experience in a startup environment a plus

Proven ability to take a product through all phases of development (design, specification, implementation, qa, and production)

BS or MS degree in computer science
